AI Search Share of Voice Tracking Tools: Brand Visibility in ChatGPT and Perplexity
The share of voice tools we shortlist when a client needs ChatGPT and Perplexity side by side, ranked by what each covers on the plan you would actually buy.
When a client asks for share of voice in ChatGPT and Perplexity, the first filter we apply is boring and decisive: does the plan they would actually buy cover both engines? A surprising number of entry tiers do not. After that we look at how the tool presents share of voice, whether the competitor set is easy to control, and what happens after the report shows a gap.
This is our shortlist, in the order we evaluate it. Pricing and limits for the other vendors come from the tool catalog we maintain across our review work. Where the catalog does not say something, we do not guess. If you want the method behind the number first, read how we define AI share of voice.

1. Promptwatch
The platform we run client programs on is Promptwatch, and for share of voice it wins on what sits around the number. The share of voice and competitive benchmarking views come from monitoring the real ChatGPT and Perplexity interfaces, not just API calls. Prompt trends show how each prompt moved between checks. Citation analytics show which domain or page got the link in the answers where a competitor took the mention, down to Reddit threads and YouTube videos. That last part is what turns a share of voice gap into a brief we can hand to a writer or a PR lead.
The free Explore plan is ChatGPT only with 10 prompts, so a ChatGPT and Perplexity comparison needs a paid plan. Essential is $95 a month (50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 7-day trial). Professional at $245 gives 150 prompts and 18,000 responses across 2 projects, which is where we land when a client wants two markets compared. Personas and country, state, or city tracking cover the splits that a blended share of voice hides.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ's Starter plan at $295 a month ($245 annual) tracks nine engines, ChatGPT and Perplexity included, in a single country. Share of voice is not a standalone headline there. It rolls into a unified GEO score that blends citations, sentiment, traffic impact, and query types, and the Action Center turns findings into assignable tasks. That workflow is strong.
The catch is usage. Every AI response consumes a credit, and G2 reviewers report burning a month of credits in the first week. Persona tracking and multi-region sit on Enterprise, reported at around $2,000 a month or more. We would shortlist it for a single-market brand with a team that will work the task queue every day.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI starts at $250 a month on annual billing ($300 monthly) with 3 seats and 350 custom prompts. It covers up to nine engines at the top tier, and the catalog notes that published tier details conflict, so we confirm Perplexity coverage on the exact plan during the sales call. Its standout feature is not share of voice at all. The Agent Experience Platform serves AI-optimized versions of pages to crawlers without touching the human-facing site.
For share of voice reporting, the sourced complaints matter. Data refreshes weekly, prompt credits are consumed per engine (so a ChatGPT plus Perplexity check costs two), and weak reporting is the most common G2 complaint, with users exporting to Excel to build client charts. Sitecore acquired Scrunch in June 2026.
4. Profound
Profound does report citation share, share of voice, and competitor cite rates by prompt cluster. The problem for this specific job is the entry plan: Starter at $99 a month (annual) is ChatGPT only, with 50 prompts and one seat. Growth at $399 a month (annual) covers three engines and 100 prompts. The catalog does not list which three, so check that Perplexity is one of them before signing. The full engine list sits on Enterprise, with contracts starting around $40k a year, and the live product is sold more as marketing agents for content, demand, and PR than as a share of voice tracker.
It also carries a data-trust note we always pass on: G2 reviewers report citation counts that do not match manual ChatGPT checks.
5. Brand24 with the AI visibility add-on
Brand24 is a social listening product with an AI visibility add-on that covers nine engines, ChatGPT and Perplexity included, and reports AI share of voice, sentiment, and the sources citing the brand. The add-on price and the base plan prices are not published on its AI visibility page. We consider it when a client's comms team already lives in Brand24 and wants AI answers next to social mentions. It is not where we would run a GEO program, since the listing has no crawler logs or content workflow.
6. Otterly.AI
Otterly.AI includes both ChatGPT and Perplexity in its four base engines (Google AI Overviews and Copilot are the others), and it is the cheapest way to see a first share of voice baseline. Lite at $29 a month is 15 prompts, which is a test, not a program. Standard at $189 gives 100 prompts, API access, and Looker Studio export. Two limits stop us using it for client share of voice: monitoring data can be up to seven days stale, and sentiment has been caught classifying neutral mentions as positive.
7. Peec AI
Peec AI tracks competitor share per prompt with a clean interface and daily data. Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, 1 project, and 3 models. Coverage beyond those three models costs $35 to $165 a month per model, so a ChatGPT and Perplexity comparison may or may not fit the base price depending on how the three are assigned. There is no historical backfill, which means a competitive baseline only starts the day you subscribe.
How we test share of voice during a trial
Whatever is on the shortlist, the trial week looks the same for us. We load 20 prompts from the client's real buyer questions and the same five competitors into each tool. Then we pick five prompts and run them by hand in ChatGPT and Perplexity on the same day, and compare who got named against what the tool recorded. We check whether we can edit the competitor set without losing history, and whether the export gives us per-engine numbers rather than only a blended score.
The tool that passes that test and also tells us which page earned the competitor's citation is the one that survives past the trial. On our retainers that has been Promptwatch, because the share of voice row and the citation row come from the same monitored answers, and the next step after a gap is already sitting in the same account.
