Best AI SEO Prompt Tracking Tools 2026: AEO and GEO Prompt Tracking Platforms
AEO and GEO prompt tracking platforms in 2026: what each acronym means on our accounts, and which tools we will actually operate.
AEO and GEO got stacked onto every AI SEO prompt tracking tools brief in 2026. GEO is the citation program. AEO, in our usage, is the agentic loop that drafts from that log. HubSpot's add-on also uses AEO and means a tracker next to the CRM. If you buy "an AEO platform" without saying which definition, you will get a writer, a tracker, or a slide.
We still read Google's AI features page for Overviews. It does not store ChatGPT or Perplexity answers.
The prompt tracking platform we operate for both layers is Promptwatch. Paid plans are the GEO log. Content Agents are the AEO half, with a review inbox. Ahrefs and Semrush stay the AI SEO suite for ranks and links. They are not AEO platforms.
Two acronyms, two jobs
GEO. Fixed buyer prompts. Daily answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, plus Overviews. Mention versus citation. Crawler access. The 2026 GEO note is the program.
AEO (agentic). The same platform may draft a page against a red prompt, park it in review, and publish only after a human. The draft is downstream of a miss you can re-check. Word count is not a KPI.
AEO (HubSpot). $50/mo tracker. Keep it if HubSpot is the CMS. Do not call it a GEO prompt tracking platform.
If you only buy GEO, you still need writers. If you only buy an agent writer with no prompt log, you get more pages and no idea whether ChatGPT used them.
2026 tools against those jobs
Promptwatch. Essential $95/mo, 50 prompts, one project. Kick-off $199/mo, unlimited projects, 10 seats. Professional $245/mo. Business $579/mo. Explore free, ChatGPT only, 10 prompts. Citations, crawler logs, visitor analytics, country/state/city, DataForSEO. Agents into Webflow or Framer. This is the only SKU on the list that is both GEO tracking and an optional AEO queue we will touch.
Otterly $29. GEO-ish for ChatGPT and Perplexity. Gemini and Claude add-ons lag 7 days. No agentic loop we will turn on. Not AEO in either sense.
Peec $95, three models. GEO monitoring. Claude extra $35 to $165. Not AEO.
Profound Starter $99 annual, ChatGPT only. Growth $399. Enterprise can be a GEO standard. Starter is a demo. Not our AEO queue.
Scrunch $250 annual, weekly Excel, Sitecore 2026. Neither daily GEO nor AEO.
Langfuse, PromptLayer, and Helicone are app observability. They track prompts inside software you ship. They are not GEO brand tracking and not AEO content agents. We do not invent their prices.
How we run AEO and GEO in the same week
Monday is the log. Multi-engine losses only. Classify: crawl, passage, no page, third-party.
Crawl tickets never go to an agent. Passage misses go to a human on the live URL. "No page" can go to Content Agents if the CMS is Webflow or Framer. Third-party misses go to PR. Fan-outs often name the URL.
GSC generative impressions stay for Overviews. Ahrefs or Semrush stay for the keyword the page still has to rank for. Brand Radar and the Semrush Toolkit ($99/mo per domain) stay modeled monthly views.
We do not autopublish. We do not open 400 prompts. We do not sell instant alerts. The longer agentic write-up is here.
FAQ
Is the best 2026 tool the one with agents?
Only if someone will reject drafts. An agent without a GEO log is another writer. A GEO log without an editor is a report.
Can we run AEO on Explore?
No. Ten ChatGPT prompts is a stakeholder demo.
Do we drop Surfer or Jasper?
No. Those are writer rooms. They do not start from yesterday's Perplexity footnote. Keep them for human-led drafts if the team already lives there.
What to do this week
- Write 25 buyer prompts. Load Promptwatch Essential or Kick-off.
- Decide in writing whether AEO means agents or HubSpot's tracker.
- Turn agents on only if the CMS is Webflow or Framer and an editor is named.
- Keep Ahrefs and Semrush. Classify misses before any draft is accepted.
- Email hello@1001seomedia.com if you want us on the inbox. 2026 AEO and GEO platforms can queue work. The citation still has to be true.
