Best platform to monitor Search Console, Bing and AI search performance in one place
How we combine Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster data and AI search tracking into one client view, and why that view lives in Promptwatch.
For years our monthly client report drew from two sources: Google Search Console and, if the client cared, Bing Webmaster Tools. Then AI search arrived, and the report grew a third section that came from a different tool entirely. Clients do not want three sections. They want to know, page by page, what is happening.
Here is how we set that up and what we learned.
The problem with three dashboards
Each source answers a different question. Search Console tells you about Google clicks and impressions. Bing Webmaster Tools tells you the same for Bing, which matters more than it used to, because Microsoft Copilot draws on Bing. AI visibility data tells you whether engines name the client and which sources they cite.
Read separately, these produce confusing stories. A page can lose Google clicks while gaining AI citations. A Bing indexing issue can quietly cap Copilot visibility. Without a shared view, nobody connects the dots, and clients assume the worst.
What we want in one place
For each important page, we want to see:
- Google clicks and impressions over time.
- Bing clicks and impressions over time.
- AI crawler hits on the page.
- AI citations of the page, and from which engines.
- AI-referred visits, if there are any.
Put those on one timeline and the story usually becomes obvious.
How we do it with Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the platform our client programs run on, partly for this reason. Search Insights overlays Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster traffic, including Microsoft Copilot, on AI crawls and citations. It lives within 360 Insights, which already joins crawler logs, citation clicks and AI-referred visits per page. So the question "what changed on this page?" has one place to answer it.
A few features we lean on:
- Prompt Explorer can suggest prompts from Search Console, so our AI tracking starts with queries the client already ranks for rather than guesses.
- Topic Insights shows where pages underdeliver for their topic.
- Action Board gives a prioritized list, which we edit before sharing.
- Custom reports and the Looker Studio connector feed the client's own dashboards.
The AI tracking side runs daily prompt panels per model and country, monitoring real interfaces for ChatGPT (Search), Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Alexa and Meta AI, plus API tracking for models like Claude and DeepSeek.
On cost: Essential is $95 a month, Professional $245 (crawler logs begin here), Business $579, and agency self-serve plans start at $199 a month. Always check the live pricing page.
What we have learned
Bing deserves attention. Several clients had never opened Bing Webmaster Tools. Verifying the site and fixing basic indexing problems was a quick win, and it matters for Copilot.
Search Console queries make better AI prompts than brainstorming. They reflect real demand and wording.
Do not blend the numbers. Clicks, impressions, citations and mentions are different measurements. We show them side by side and refuse to add them into a fake composite.
Explain divergences. When Google clicks fall and AI citations rise, say so, and say it may reflect users getting answers without clicking. Do not spin it either way.
Limits to tell clients about
Search Console data is Google's sample of its own results, and AI tracking is a sample of AI answers. Neither is a census. AI tracking cannot guarantee that an engine recommends the client. We frame the combined view as the best available evidence for deciding where to spend effort, not as proof.
A monthly checklist
- Check indexing and coverage in both consoles.
- Review the per-page timeline: Google, Bing, crawlers, citations.
- Pick the pages with the biggest divergence and diagnose them.
- Update the prompt set from fresh Search Console queries.
- Report in one document, not three.
If your current reporting involves pasting from three tabs, that is the part worth fixing first.
