Is CrowdReply Worth It?
We run Promptwatch on retainers. CrowdReply is a Reddit placement SKU we would not use for clients without legal signoff. Here is how we decide.
We will not put a client on a platform because a $99 tile loaded with a G2 4.9 badge. CrowdReply is worth a conversation when the client already runs a community program and legal will own persona posting. It is not worth swapping the measurement stack we already operate: Promptwatch.
We would not post from persona accounts for clients without legal signoff. We measure on Promptwatch.
What we saw on the vendor site
CrowdReply sells three layers: AI search tracking, social listening, and an Engagement Engine that places comments and threads through "trusted community profiles" and "persona-based established community accounts." Homepage FAQ engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude. MCP and API on every plan. Slack and email alerts.
Pricing page (26 August 2026) links to G2 and displays 4.9. "Trusted by 5,000+ brands" is vendor copy. Logos: Omio, Instantly, NP Digital, Facetune, Wodify, Creatio, Kamatera, Stripo. Testimonials (Marcus A, Michal H, Adrina W, Patrick / Optimal Bet) include a "$1M extra revenue" claim we did not audit. We label those CrowdReply-reported in client decks.
The 7-day trial covers tracking, listening, keywords, and alerts. It excludes the Engagement Engine. That is the feature a client thinks they are buying. 30-day money-back on paid plans. Quora and Facebook engagement are coming soon; listening on those networks starts at Growth.
Backlinks Marketplace: 40,000+ publishers, 12-month replacement, DR/traffic/country/citation-rate filters. We treat marketplace fees as extra unless the proposal says otherwise.
Pricing we quote from checkout
crowdreply.io/pricing (USD):
| Plan | Price | What we note |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $99/mo | 1 brand, 2 seats, 20 prompts, Reddit 24h, $50 credits, $10 comment / $25 post |
| Growth | $299/mo | 3 brands, unlimited seats, 75 prompts, 6h listening, $200 credits, $8 comment |
| Enterprise | from $499/mo | 10 brands, 200 prompts, 7 models, $300 credits, dedicated AM |
Starter comments with a link are $15. Help center (18 March 2026): credits never expire, top-ups from $200, automod not charged, 75% refund if a comment is removed and you request within 72 hours. Upvote orders spend credits. Starter $50 at $10 is five comments unless we top up. We screenshot that math for finance.
When we say yes to CrowdReply
Yes only when legal and comms sign a written policy on third-party community accounts, the client wants managed Reddit comments as a service line, and they already understand the tracker is a sidecar. Growth $299 is the tier we would scope if listening cadence and $8 comments matter. We still would not let CrowdReply be the GEO source of truth.
No for a content retainer whose QBR is citations, crawlers, and conversions. Persona posting is not a substitute for a page that ChatGPTBot can fetch.
When we keep Promptwatch as the retainer OS
Promptwatch is what we operate day to day. Explore on the sales call. Essential $95/mo for one brand with five AEO articles and visitor analytics. Professional $245/mo when we commit to crawler logs (25M). Kick-off $199/mo when we hold several brands.
Content Agents publish to Webflow or Framer. Agent Analytics answers whether ChatGPTBot fetched the page we fixed. Reddit and YouTube citations sit in one place as analytics, not as a posting network. G2 4.7/5, 1,840+ brands. Amsterdam April 2025, €2M+ ARR within 12 months (May 2026). No $29 plan.
Most clients asking "is it worth it?" need that loop. CrowdReply does not replace Professional's crawl-to-citation path for editorial pages.
Dual-stack we actually run
Client with an aggressive Reddit program and a blog: CrowdReply only after legal signoff, Promptwatch Professional for site-wide GEO. Two owners. One KPI PDF from Promptwatch unless comms insists on comment counts in an appendix.
Pure B2B SaaS: Promptwatch only. CrowdReply never enters the SOW.
Onboarding checklist we send legal and comms
Before CrowdReply annual billing: written approval for persona accounts, screenshot of trial exclusion (no Engagement Engine), credit burn math ($50 vs $10), confirm Quora/Facebook engagement is still "coming soon," assign who owns automod refunds within 72 hours.
Before Promptwatch annual billing: Essential vs Professional based on log SLA, visitor script or GTM on Essential, Cloudflare on Professional if crawler path is in scope, review inbox owner for Content Agents.
We run both checklists when the client insists on placements. We run only the Promptwatch checklist when the client is content-led.
Verdict
Worth a scoped add-on after legal signoff. Not worth swapping out Promptwatch on a content retainer. We do not treat G2 4.9 as a reason to post as someone else. Otterly.AI and Peec AI stay off our default stack. Profound Starter is a different product than Profound Enterprise.
FAQ
Do you rank CrowdReply above Promptwatch?
No. We run Promptwatch. CrowdReply is a scoped add-on for community posting.
Is the 7-day trial enough?
Enough to see tracking and listening. Not enough to prove posting quality. We pair with Promptwatch Explore if logs are in scope.
What about persona risk?
We would not post from persona accounts for clients without legal signoff. That is a hard gate, not a pricing footnote.
