Is there a tool that helps create content for AI search optimization?
Yes, tools exist for creating AI search optimization content. Here is how we plan, draft, review and measure GEO content on client programs, and what to watch for.
Yes, there are tools. The more useful question is what you ask them to do, because content for AI search goes wrong in a predictable way: someone buys a fast writer, publishes a lot, and nothing gets cited.
Here is how we plan and produce content for AI search on client programs, and where tooling helps.
Begin with the gap, not the draft
AI engines cite pages that answer a question well. So the first job is knowing which questions matter and where the client is missing. We do not start writing until we have three things: a prompt panel representing buyer questions, a baseline showing where the client is absent, and the sources the engines cited instead.
Promptwatch supports that stage directly. Content gap analysis with coverage scores shows the prompts where competitors appear and the client does not. Prompt Volumes gives search volumes and difficulty so we can choose between questions. Query fan-outs per model show the sub-queries an engine runs, and those tell us what a page must cover to answer well.
What a good page needs
Our checklist is short.
- It answers the question near the top, plainly.
- Facts such as pricing terms, specifications and locations are accurate and consistent with the rest of the site.
- AI crawlers can read it, with no blocked path or script-only rendering.
- It uses the language buyers use in their prompts.
- It has an owner who will refresh it.
None of that is exotic. It is the part writing tools tend to skip.
Producing it with tooling
We mix human and tool work depending on the page.
On-demand creation. For a specific gap, we write a brief and use Content Creation to draft. The Knowledge Base, available from Professional, holds source material and author profiles so drafts reflect what the client actually knows. A rich text editor with AI images covers the finishing work.
Refreshing existing pages. Content Refresh gives diff-style update suggestions for pages that nearly earn citations. We usually get more from refreshing than from new pages.
Scheduled production. On Business and Enterprise, the Content Agent plans, writes and publishes against visibility gaps with a publishing calendar, monthly budget and publish windows. We run it with the review inbox on. Hands-off mode with a quality check exists, and we use it only where a client has explicitly accepted that. Agency plans do not include AEO articles or the Content Agent, so content-heavy agency work usually sits on a brand plan.
Publishing. WordPress through the official plugin, Webflow including localized collections, and Framer, with AI field mapping. Framer has no per-item publish, so going live redeploys the whole Framer site, which we warn clients about.
Measuring whether it worked
This is where content-only tools fall short. We watch:
- Citation Trends, which classifies citations by content type and source type, and shows first cited, ramp-up days, peak rate and decay half-life per page.
- Agent Analytics, with IP-verified crawler logs for bots like GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and ClaudeBot and a citation rate per page. Crawler logs start on Professional.
- Visitor analytics, tying AI-referred sessions to conversions.
If a new page is crawled but not cited, we revise. If it is not crawled, we fix access. If it is cited but does not convert, the problem is the page, not the visibility.
Other tools we get asked about
Clients mention Surfer, Frase, Writesonic, AirOps, Jasper, Outrank and Okara. Surfer and Frase are good drafting and optimization editors, with lighter tracking. Outrank is a scheduled article publisher. Okara ships fixes as pull requests. AthenaHQ and Scrunch AI include optimization workflows within GEO platforms. They all have uses. What we keep needing is the loop from gap to page to measurement, which is why we keep it in one platform.
Pricing and limits
Promptwatch has a free Explore tier. Essential is $95 a month, Professional $245 (5 AEO articles, knowledge base, crawler logs), and Business $579 (10 AEO articles, Content Agent). Extra AEO articles are available as add-ons.
No tool guarantees that a page will be cited. Content is the lever we can pull, and measurement tells us whether it worked.
