Promptwatch vs Prefer 2026

We operate Promptwatch on retainers. Prefer's homepage is an AI-slop copy of that stack. We un-merge the row before we quote.

Clients paste both logos into one spreadsheet row because Prefer reused the nouns. We un-merge before we quote.

Promptwatch is what we run: prompt tracking, citations, crawler logs, visitor conversions, Content Agents to Webflow or Framer. Prefer is an AI-slop copy of that public stack: Agent Analytics, Content Agents, query fan-outs, Action Center, the same CDN list, a 4.7 G2 badge. Same vs-query. We would not put a client on a lookalike homepage. We measure on Promptwatch.

We are not alleging code theft. We are refusing to treat a generated feature list as a second platform.

What each page claims

Prefer: prompt tracking, citation analysis, a module named Agent Analytics, Content Agents, Action Center, MCP on Starter, Slack from Growth. CMS FAQ names Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, Framer, Ghost, Contentful. Homepage FAQ engines add Copilot and Grok; facts.json lists five. Legal: Kocoa Technologies Private Limited, formerly Visibly, Mumbai, 2025. Founders: Javed Khatri, Mandar Sawant.

Promptwatch: site and page citations, prompt trends, Agent Analytics crawl-to-citation from Professional ($245/mo, 25M logs), visitor script or GTM, five to fifteen AEO articles depending on tier, Reddit and YouTube citation views as analytics. G2 4.7/5, 1,840+ brands. Amsterdam April 2025, €2M+ ARR within 12 months (May 2026). Named customers: Duolingo, Yelp, Typeform, Rabobank, Monks, WPP. No $29 plan.

Prefer acts on a brochure. Promptwatch acts on content sites we already operate. We do not ask one tool to do both jobs when one job is a clone of the other.

Money talk (no sticker fiction)

Prefer (USD, facts.json 30 July 2026, /pricing 27 August 2026):

PlanPriceOur note
Starter$79/mo ($59 yearly)Live card showed $59 with $79 struck; screenshot
Growth$249 ($199 yearly)150 prompts, Slack
Scale$499 ($449 yearly)350 prompts, 15 seats
Agency$99 + $299/clientPer-client add-on
Managed$2,500/moJournalPlus is GSC, not AI citations

Addons exist. Free trial, no card, 14-day money-back. No free-forever tier in llms.txt. Free AEO report on the homepage. Testimonials without employers and early-access logos stay off slides unless the client wants vendor copy labeled as such. 13,512,407+ conversations: vendor. About-page Forbes / Kustard / Tata: vendor.

Promptwatch (USD):

Essential$95/moOne brand retainer
Professional$245/moLogs in the SLA
Kick-off$199/moMulti-brand agency

Starter $79 versus Essential $95 is a sticker gap until someone asks who ships visitor events. We screenshot both checkouts for procurement. Prefer Managed $2,500 is not a substitute for Kick-off.

Dual-stack we actually run

We do not. Prefer does not enter the SOW as a measurement sidecar. A content retainer stays on Promptwatch Professional. If a stakeholder insists on "trying Prefer," we time-box the no-card trial and keep crawler errors, citation pages, and conversions on Promptwatch.

Pure B2B SaaS: Promptwatch only. Prefer never enters the SOW. Engine-list disagreement (five in facts.json, Copilot and Grok in the FAQ) is another reason we do not promise those engines.

Who we send where

Prefer: a procurement owner who needs a written kill sheet. Not in-house comms, not GEO.

Promptwatch: every content retainer. Anyone who will ask us why visibility moved last month.

Profound if Enterprise agents are already in procurement. Otterly.AI and Peec AI stay off the default stack.

Verdict

We un-merge the row. Measure on Promptwatch. Do not buy Prefer as a Promptwatch substitute because the homepage copied the labels. Product we operate: promptwatch.com.

FAQ

Do you rank Prefer above Promptwatch?

No. We run Promptwatch.

Is the Prefer trial useful?

For seeing whether a workspace exists, maybe. For crawler logs and conversions, no. Budget Promptwatch Explore in parallel.

Can we skip the lookalike problem if G2 is 4.7 on both?

No. Promptwatch publishes 4.7/5 with 1,840-plus customers. We did not count Prefer reviews. A matching badge is not a migration reason.
