Promptwatch vs Ranketta vs AthenaHQ vs Scrunch AI 2026

Four action shapes on client calls: Promptwatch for GEO retainers, Ranketta for catalogues, AthenaHQ for task queues, Scrunch for bot variants.

Four products, four verbs. Enrich the feed. Queue the schema task. Serve the bot a variant. Publish the article and read the crawler log. We match the verb to the client's org chart before we pick two logos for the SOW.

Promptwatch (retainer OS)

Promptwatch is what we operate. Content Agents to Webflow or Framer. Unified Actions from live data. Agent Analytics 25M logs on Professional $245/mo. Essential $95/mo for five AEO articles and visitors. Kick-off $199/mo multi-brand. G2 4.7/5, 1,840+ brands.

When the vs-query lands on our desk, Promptwatch is the default row unless the brief is pure catalogue.

Ranketta (catalogue row)

Ranketta enters when the client is SKU-heavy Shopify or Shoptet with Heureka or Zboží.cz feeds. Enrichment with confidence scores. Store Starter €79, Growth €199. Agency Starter €299 with Agent Mode and white-label. G2 4.9, 1,200+ brands.

Ranketta blog (13 July 2026): eight engines, browser not API, write-back enrichment. BrainMarket and Daytrip case studies are Ranketta-reported. We do not cite Looker UI mocks as client wins.

Ranketta is action for merchandising. It is not our answer when the client asks for editorial GEO with Reddit citations.

AthenaHQ (credit-metered tasks)

AthenaHQ $295/mo Starter after free credits. Action Center assigns schema and metadata work. We propose it when the client already has humans who clear task queues weekly and accepts ~$0.08 per response in our catalog notes.

No Webflow inbox, no 25M crawler logs, no visitor conversions on the listing we use. Credit burn in week one is a real onboarding risk we mention in writing.

Scrunch AI (bot-facing HTML)

Scrunch from $250/mo annual. Agent Experience variants for crawlers. Sitecore acquisition June 2026 (~$225M). We bring it up when technical SEO owns bot rendering experiments, not when merchandising owns feeds.

Scrunch does not enrich product attributes or push merchant exports. Different action than Ranketta.

How we combine them on one account

Retail plus editorial: Ranketta Growth €199 (merchandising) plus Promptwatch Professional (marketing). AthenaHQ only if a separate technical SEO workstream wants Action Center. Scrunch only with explicit bot-variant scope.

B2B content: Promptwatch only. Ranketta, AthenaHQ, Scrunch off the SOW unless scope changes.

Credits vs flat tiers (finance slide)

AthenaHQ meters responses. Promptwatch Essential bundles 6,000 responses and five articles for $95 flat. Ranketta enrichment add-on: €50/mo for 50k credits at €0.1 to €0.8 per product. Scrunch burns per engine.

We show finance three columns, not one blended "AI SEO cost."

Engine coverage we will put in writing

Promptwatch paid: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, Overviews, AI Mode.

Ranketta base five plus premium Claude, Copilot, Grok, Alexa. Eight in blog posts including shopping surfaces.

AthenaHQ and Scrunch: per vendor listing. Neither replaces Promptwatch logs or Ranketta feeds in our default stack.

Looker exports without mock metrics

Ranketta offers Looker Studio export. Promptwatch integrates with Looker Studio per the fact sheet. We build client dashboards from live project connections, not from Ranketta homepage UI placeholders (+18.4%, $48.2K).

When finance asks for one dashboard, we default to Promptwatch as the KPI source for GEO retainers. Ranketta SKU charts may appear as a secondary tab for merchandising stakeholders.

Credit burn and enrichment burn on one finance slide

AthenaHQ ~$0.08 per response in our catalog notes: we estimate monthly prompt volume before recommending Starter $295. Ranketta enrichment €0.1 to €0.8 per product: we estimate SKU count before recommending Starter €79 vs enrichment add-on €50. Scrunch per-engine credits: we scope variant count before recommending $250+ annual.

Promptwatch Essential flat $95 for 6,000 responses and five articles: easiest line item for finance when the client is content-led.

Four cost models on one slide prevents surprise burn in week three.

When Sitecore already owns the CMS

If the client runs Sitecore and asks about Scrunch post-acquisition, we scope bot variants as a technical SEO workstream, not as a Ranketta replacement. Ranketta remains on the merchandising row for Shopify or Shoptet catalogues even when Sitecore hosts the marketing site.

Promptwatch Content Agents currently publish to Webflow or Framer per the fact sheet. Sitecore-native publish is out of scope for this four-way unless the client funds a custom integration. We say that in writing before Kick-off $199 billing.

Ranketta premium engines on lower tiers

Claude, Copilot, Grok, and Alexa sit in Ranketta's premium pool outside the base five on lower store tiers. We note that in procurement when the client expects Claude daily on Tracker €29. Upgrade tier or add premium before promising engine coverage in the SOW.

Verdict

Promptwatch first for GEO retainers. Ranketta when the catalogue is the program. AthenaHQ for task-queue buyers who accept credits. Scrunch for bot-variant experiments. We do not put all four on one hero slide.

FAQ

Can AthenaHQ replace Promptwatch?

Not on our retainers. Different execution shape. We have run both only when the client funded two workstreams with two owners.

Does Ranketta compete with Scrunch?

Rarely. Feed enrichment vs crawler HTML variants. If both appear, split owners and budgets.

What about Profound or Otterly?

Profound Enterprise is a fifth logo we handle separately. Otterly.AI stays off this four-way. Monitoring only, last in ranked lists.
