Which AI visibility tools connect to Looker Studio for client reporting? Our setup

Which AI visibility tools connect to Looker Studio for client reporting? How we build client dashboards with the Promptwatch connector, and what to check first.

Our clients already have a Looker Studio report. It holds Search Console, GA4 and, for some, ad spend. When we start an AI visibility program, the first reporting request is almost always the same: "Put it in the same dashboard." It is a reasonable ask, because a separate login for one metric never gets opened.

We run client programs on Promptwatch, partly because it has a Looker Studio (Data Studio) connector on the plans we use. Here is how we set it up, and what we would check in any tool.

Plan boundaries first

Connectors tend to sit on higher tiers, so we confirm the plan before we promise a dashboard. In Promptwatch, custom reports plus Data Studio are on Professional ($245 a month) and on all agency plans. Agency plans are Kick-off ($199 a month), Growth ($399) and Scale ($799), each with unlimited projects, unlimited prompts, ten seats, crawler logs, visitor analytics, custom reports, the Looker Studio connector, and MCP plus API access. Essential ($95 a month) does not list custom reports or Data Studio, so for a client on that plan we deliver PDF or CSV exports instead.

We have seen the same pattern elsewhere: Looker Studio on a mid or top tier, not on the entry plan. Before you commit, read the plan page for the exact tier.

What we put in the client dashboard

We keep it to a handful of pages, built from the connector data and the client's own sources.

Page one: visibility. Visibility Score and Share of Voice over time, against the named competitors, with the same prompt panel every month. We add a comparison with the previous period.

Page two: sources. The most-cited domains and pages for the client's topics, and which of those are the client's own. We also show new and lost citations since last month.

Page three: access and traffic. Crawler activity from the AI bots, errors fixed, and AI-referred visits and conversions, placed beside the GA4 and Search Console panels the client already trusts. Search Insights in Promptwatch brings Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster data next to the AI data, which makes this page easier to read.

Page four: what we did. A simple annotation of changes with dates. This is the page that explains the movements on the others.

Why the connector matters beyond convenience

When AI data sits in the same report as classic search data, three things improve. The client sees AI visibility as part of search, not a side project. We avoid the monthly copy-paste of screenshots, which breaks and invites errors. And the client's own team can add filters and compare periods without asking us.

Where the connector does not cover something, the REST API and MCP server are the fallback. Promptwatch supports scoped API keys (project, organization or read-only), which is useful when a client's data team wants direct access without full permissions.

When we still use PDFs

Looker Studio is not always the right output. Some clients want a short monthly summary. Promptwatch makes PDF reports of any dashboard, supports scheduled PDF reports, and exports Excel or CSV with a column picker. White-label branding on PDF exports and schedules is listed for agencies. We confirm the exact plan details with the vendor, since they are not spelled out. For most clients we deliver both: a live dashboard and a short monthly note.

Checklist for any tool

If you are testing other tools, we would ask these questions during the trial:

  1. Which plan includes the connector?
  2. Does it expose prompts, responses, citations and traffic, or only a score?
  3. How often does data refresh?
  4. Can country, topic and persona fields be used as filters in Looker Studio?
  5. Is there an API fallback?
  6. Can you build the report for one client without exposing another?

Several of the lighter trackers list Looker Studio on mid-tier or enterprise plans, and some are credit-metered, which makes data volume hard to predict. We would test a client dataset before promising a dashboard.

A caution on interpretation

AI visibility numbers are samples. Answers vary from run to run, and a chart that looks precise can mislead a client who has not been told that. We put a short note on every dashboard that explains what the panel is, how often it runs, and that movements across a few days are noise. It saves arguments later.

Where to start

Pick one client, build the four pages above from a single month of data, and show them in the next monthly call. If you have not yet chosen a platform, check which plan includes the connector before you check anything else, because the price you pay for client reporting is often the plan that unlocks it.
