BrightLocal AI Search, Local SEO, and GEO Tool
BrightLocal is a local SEO suite. GEO on our accounts means generative citations plus city-level prompts and GBP, not a BrightLocal SKU we do not have prices for.
BrightLocal sits in the local SEO suite category: citation audits, review monitoring, local rank tracking, the jobs agencies already bought before anyone said GEO. The search "BrightLocal AI search local SEO GEO tool" mixes that suite with generative engine optimization. We will not invent BrightLocal plan names or prices. They are not in our data.
The generative GEO layer we run is Promptwatch with city-level prompts, next to Google Business Profile. Local SEO still follows the playbook. If BrightLocal is already on the account, we keep it for the suite work. We do not report it as a ChatGPT mention log.
What BrightLocal is for
Local pack and organic ranks in named locations. Citation cleanup. Review workflows. Agency reporting on Google local performance. That is still the chair-filling channel for a clinic, a firm, a contractor.
AI search, in the generative sense, is whether ChatGPT or Perplexity named you for "best [category] in [city]." BrightLocal may add AI-flavored reports over time. Until we have a SKU and a price in our fact sheet, we will not describe those features or guess a number.
GeoRanker is the other mix-up: a geographic rank tracker, not generative GEO. Separate post here.
What we run instead for generative GEO
Paid Promptwatch: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Overviews, daily from the UIs. Country, state, and city on the prompt. Citation analytics. Crawler logs. Visitor analytics (script or GTM). DataForSEO when we still want classic SERP context.
Essential $95/mo, 50 prompts, one project. Enough for a single location or a first city set. Kick-off $199/mo if we hold several brands. Professional $245/mo. Business $579/mo. Explore free, ChatGPT only, 10 prompts.
GBP stays the local homepage. GSC generative reports stay official for Overviews impressions. Bing Places plus Bing AI Performance if Copilot local matters. IndexNow at indexnow.org after location-page updates.
Ahrefs and Semrush stay. Brand Radar is modeled. Semrush AI Toolkit is $99/mo per domain and modeled. Neither replaces GBP or a city prompt list.
Otterly $29 is not a local suite. Gemini and Claude are add-ons ($9 to $149); lag can be up to seven days. Peec $95 is three models. Profound Starter $99 annual is ChatGPT only. Scrunch $250 annual is weekly Excel. None of those are BrightLocal.
How we run local SEO plus GEO when BrightLocal is already paid
- Leave BrightLocal on citation audits, reviews, and local ranks. That meeting stays a local SEO meeting.
- Write 25 prompts from the front desk, including the city and neighborhood strings people actually use.
- Load them into Promptwatch with city targeting. Same wording on ChatGPT and Perplexity at minimum.
- If an assistant cites a directory BrightLocal already tracks, the ticket is "fix the listing," not "write 20 blogs."
- If the assistant cites a competitor location page, the ticket is our service page (first sentence, real local facts). How to get cited by ChatGPT.
We will not publish doorway city pages to feed either tool. We will not sell instant alerts. We will not quote a BrightLocal price to win the argument.
FAQ
Is BrightLocal a GEO tool?
It is a local SEO suite. GEO in our retainers means generative citations. You can run both. Calling BrightLocal "the GEO tool" without a prompt log is a naming error.
Should we cancel BrightLocal and buy Promptwatch?
Not if you still need citation audits and local ranks. Those jobs did not disappear. Add a prompt tracker for assistants. Keep the suite for Google local.
Do you have a BrightLocal vs Promptwatch price table?
No. We do not have BrightLocal prices. Promptwatch Essential is $95/mo. That is the only side we will quote.
What to do this week
- If BrightLocal is on the card, keep using it for citations, reviews, and local ranks.
- Confirm GBP is current.
- Write 25 city-aware prompts. Load Promptwatch Essential.
- Keep Ahrefs or Semrush if they are already in the SEO stack.
- Email hello@1001seomedia.com if you want the local suite and the generative log in one weekly without mixing the columns. BrightLocal is local SEO. GEO still needs a stored assistant answer.
