Wellows alternatives in 2026: six tools we'd shortlist for client work
Moving on from Wellows, or comparing before you sign? Six alternatives ranked by an agency that tests these tools for client programs, judged on engines, crawler logs, conversion data and per-client structure.
Wellows is a reasonable tool, and we'll say that first. It scores AI visibility on citations, splits them into explicit (the engine cites your own page) and implicit (it cites a third-party page that mentions you), and turns cited pages that ignore you into an outreach list with contacts. Since September 2026, every plan carries unlimited prompts, projects and seats on one monthly balance of AI answers.
People still look for alternatives, and the reasons we hear are consistent. Wellows tracks five engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini) and says it doesn't track Claude or Microsoft Copilot. It publishes no AI crawler logs, no visitor analytics tying AI-referred sessions to conversions, and no agent that publishes to a CMS on a schedule. Its API is limited to reporting connectors. If any of those matter to your clients, read on.
We test these tools because clients ask us about them, and we run our own programs on the first one on this list. Facts on the other tools come from their published plans as recorded in our tool notes, read in late October 2026. Wellows facts come from wellows.com/pricing and its llms.txt, read on 25 October 2026.
What we judge an alternative on
- Engine coverage. Does it add Claude and Copilot, and are they on the plan you'd actually buy?
- Diagnosis. Can you see AI crawler activity on the client's site, or only the answers?
- Proof. Can you tie AI-referred visits to conversions?
- Agency structure. Can you run many clients without buying a workspace per brand?
The shortlist
| # | Tool | Why look at it | Published entry point |

| 2 | AthenaHQ | Action Center and automated schema work | Free tier; Starter $295/mo |

| 4 | Profound | Enterprise marketing agents plus a prompt volume dataset | 7-day trial; Enterprise custom |
| 5 | LLM Pulse | Low-cost tracker with unlimited seats | From €49/mo |
| 6 | Ahrefs Brand Radar | AI visibility inside a suite many teams already pay for | Custom Prompts with paid Ahrefs plans |
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the platform we run client programs on, and it fills each gap in the Wellows list above. Every paid plan monitors ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Agent Analytics reads AI crawler logs from the client's CDN and follows a crawl through to a later citation, with error tracking. Visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. Citation analytics goes down to page, domain, Reddit and YouTube level, with trends over time.
Brand plans run from a free Explore tier (10 prompts, ChatGPT only) through Essential at $95/mo, Professional at $245/mo, and Business at $579/mo, which adds the automated Content Agent that publishes to Webflow, Framer or WordPress through a review inbox. Agency plans start with Kick-off at $199/mo: unlimited projects and prompts, 10 seats, 10,000 responses, 10M crawler logs. Wellows is cheaper to start and gives unlimited seats, which is a real point in its favour. What Promptwatch adds is the evidence behind a renewal conversation.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ was built by former Google Search and DeepMind engineers and leans on action. Its Action Center turns findings into assignable tasks, and a content optimization agent works on pages. Essential is free with 300 credits. Starter is $295/mo for 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI response, across 11 models with unlimited prompts and competitors at country level. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons. Personas, multi-region, SSO and the Athena Citation Engine sit on Enterprise.
For an agency, the question is credit planning across clients. It suits teams that will work a task queue every day.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch's distinctive idea is its Agent Experience Platform, which serves AI-optimised versions of pages to LLM crawlers without changing what people see. It also reports on AI agent and bot traffic. Core is $250/mo for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses a month, one brand workspace and four LLMs (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot). The serving layer, nine LLMs and API access are on Enterprise.
One brand workspace on Core is the catch for agency use. It fits a single content-heavy brand better than a client roster.
4. Profound
Profound now sells itself as an AI marketer: agents for research, content, reporting and workflows, with AI search as one channel. Its Prompt Volumes dataset is the asset people mention. The public page shows a 7-day trial (50 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and a custom Enterprise plan tracking up to nine engines, which our notes estimated at about $40k a year. The page mentions a self-serve Agency Growth plan with 400 credits per client workspace but shows no price.
We'd look at Profound for a large marketing organisation buying agents across many jobs. For a dedicated AI search program, the platforms above fit better.
5. LLM Pulse
LLM Pulse is a small, bootstrapped Barcelona team with a budget tracker. Starter is €49/mo for 50 prompts and one project with weekly tracking; daily tracking costs more (€79 on Starter). Its five core engines are the same five Wellows tracks, while Claude, Copilot and others are paid add-ons. Unlimited seats and an MCP server are on every plan, and the API arrives at Scale.
It's the closest like-for-like swap if price is the only reason you're leaving.
6. Ahrefs Brand Radar
If a client already pays for Ahrefs, Brand Radar's Custom Prompts come included, with a daily quota of 5 prompts on Lite, 10 on Standard and 20 on Advanced. The AI Visibility Index, a pre-collected set of more than 496 million prompts, starts at $199/mo. It also reports AI crawler activity and Reddit and YouTube sources. The small custom quotas make it a check-in tool rather than a program platform.
How we'd choose
If you liked Wellows' citation workflow but need to explain drops and prove revenue, start with Promptwatch. That's the combination our client reporting depends on. Pick AthenaHQ if your team wants a daily task queue, Scrunch if crawler-side serving is the experiment you want to run, and LLM Pulse if budget decides.
We'd start any evaluation on Promptwatch. Run the same prompt set you had in Wellows for a week, then open the crawler logs and the AI-referred sessions. That's where the two products stop looking alike.
