Brandlight vs Profound: What Procurement Should Ask Before Signing

Brandlight and Profound both sell to enterprise and both hide the real price. The questions we tell clients to ask, and where Promptwatch fits.

When a large client asks us about AI visibility platforms, Brandlight and Profound are usually the first two names on the list. Both have funding, both have named customers, and both send you to a sales call for the serious price. The decision gets easier if you know what to ask each of them.

What Brandlight is

Brandlight tracks mentions, sentiment, citation sources and share of voice across major AI engines, with a multi-brand, multi-region command center and a strategist. It has SOC 2 Type II, SSO and role-based access, and it raised about $36M, including a $30M Series A in February 2026. The pricing page has returned a 404, estimates run $4,000 to $15,000 a month for enterprise, and its documentation describes 30 to 90 days to full productivity. G2 shows 4.7 across roughly 19 reviews, and reviewers say it diagnoses without fixing.

What Profound is

Profound runs scheduled prompts across ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Claude and reports citation share and competitor cite-rates. It is now sold mostly as marketing agents for AEO, content, demand and PR, with a Prompt Volumes dataset of real query demand. Starter is $99 a month billed yearly for ChatGPT only. Growth is $399 a month yearly for three engines. Enterprise, where the wide engine list and full suite sit, starts around $40k a year. G2 shows 4.6 and it was a Winter 2026 category leader.

Questions we suggest asking

For Brandlight, ask for a written price and what it includes. Ask when attribution ships, since it was still listed as coming soon in early 2026. Ask what happens between the report and a published page, because nothing in its public material covers content.

For Profound, ask which agents are included at your tier. Ask how citations are validated, since some G2 reviewers report counts that do not match manual checks. Ask for a realistic go-live date, because setup commonly takes one to three months with a dedicated owner.

For both, ask about AI crawler logs and how AI-referred traffic is tied to conversions. Neither documents those publicly.

What we run instead

For most client programs, we use Promptwatch, and the reasons are about the work after the dashboard. Agent Analytics shows which AI crawlers hit which pages and the path to a citation. Visitor analytics attribute AI traffic to conversions. Content Agents plan, write and publish to Webflow or Framer behind a review inbox. The prices are readable: Explore is free, Essential is $95 a month with a 7-day trial, Professional is $245, Business is $579, and agency plans are $199, $399 and $799.

It is not a like-for-like swap. You would not get Brandlight's strategist on a standard plan, nor Profound's Prompt Volumes dataset. Promptwatch does offer Enterprise and custom pricing for SSO and white-label needs.

The simple rule

If the buying committee is driven by governance, Brandlight is the more natural fit. If it is driven by a large agent program and demand data, Profound is. If it is driven by results we can show in a quarter, a platform that measures and publishes in one place tends to get there faster.
