Is ZeroRank Worth It?

We run Promptwatch on retainers. ZeroRank is a daily tracker with unlimited seats and conflicting engine lists. Here is how we decide.

We will not put a client on a platform because the homepage said 17 engines while checkout printed three. ZeroRank is worth a conversation when the client wants a cheap shared mention board with unlimited seats. It is not worth swapping the platform we already run for GEO retainers: Promptwatch.

What we saw on the vendor site

ZeroRank is a daily prompt tracker: mentions, position, sentiment, citations, competitors. Homepage banner: Gap Opportunities and Fanout Query Analytics. 7-day trial; homepage says setup in two minutes and no credit card required. FAQ: full feature access on the trial.

Live pricing (26 August 2026): Starter $89/mo ($76 yearly), 50 prompts, 4,500 answers, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AIO on the card, unlimited seats and countries, email support. Pro $199 ($169 yearly), 150 prompts, 13,500 answers, Slack. Enterprise custom, 350+ / 31,500+. All three cards list SSO and a dedicated account rep. We would verify the named-rep claim before we put it in a SOW.

Hero lists Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview, Grok, and Bing Copilot as well. A ZeroRank blog ("7 Best AI Search Engine Optimization Tools for 2026") claims up to 17 platforms. We screenshot hero, blog, and checkout. We do not merge them. We tell finance to budget from checkout.

Footer/CTA: 500+ brands. Homepage: 1k+ marketers. Same site. Vendor quotes: ClickFlare 3x (Ervis Bregasi), AdPlexity 225%+ (Guido Silbert), LanderLab 4.6x (Ervin Hoxha). We label those ZeroRank-reported. We do not paste them into a QBR as our results.

Do not mix AppSumo lifetime licenses with this SaaS sheet. Different quotas live on that listing.

Pricing we quote from checkout

PlanMonthly / yearlyWhat we note
Starter$89 / $76Unlimited seats, 50 prompts, three engines on the card
Pro$199 / $169150 prompts, Slack
EnterpriseCustom350+ prompts; card still says ChatGPT / Perplexity / AIO

Yearly discount written as up to 15%. No published crawler-log product. No published visitor analytics that attribute AI-referred traffic to conversions. Content Agents to Webflow or Framer are not on the live pricing cards. Prompt volumes, difficulty, personas, and city-level geo are not documented on the listing we used.

When we say yes to ZeroRank

Yes as a stakeholder viewer: unlimited seats at $89 so non-SEO marketers can see mentions without burning Promptwatch seats. Only after checkout confirms the engine list. We still would not let ZeroRank be the GEO source of truth.

No for a content retainer whose QBR is citations, crawlers, and conversions. A banner that says Fanout Query Analytics is not the same as the prompt-intel set we already use.

When we keep Promptwatch as the retainer OS

Promptwatch is what we operate day to day. Explore on the sales call. Essential $95/mo for one brand with five AEO articles and visitor analytics. Professional $245/mo when we commit to crawler logs (25M). Kick-off $199/mo when we hold several brands.

Content Agents publish to Webflow or Framer. Agent Analytics answers whether ChatGPTBot fetched the page we fixed. Reddit and YouTube citations sit in one place. G2 4.7/5, 1,840+ brands. Amsterdam April 2025, €2M+ ARR within 12 months (May 2026). No $29 plan.

Most clients asking "is it worth it?" need that loop, not another mention dashboard with a disputed engine list.

Dual-stack we actually run

Large internal Slack, small SEO team: ZeroRank Starter as a read-only culture tool if checkout matches the brief, Promptwatch Professional for the PDF we present. Two owners. One KPI source.

Pure content B2B: Promptwatch only. ZeroRank never enters the SOW.

Onboarding checklist we send procurement

Before ZeroRank annual billing: screenshot pricing card engines vs hero vs blog, confirm SSO and dedicated rep still print on the order form, list prompt count against 50 / 150 / 350+ caps, confirm we are not quoting AppSumo, assign who owns the 7-day trial clock.

Before Promptwatch annual billing: Essential vs Professional based on log SLA, visitor script or GTM on Essential, Cloudflare on Professional if crawler path is in scope, review inbox owner for Content Agents.

We run both when the client wants a cheap extra login. We run only Promptwatch when the client is content-led.

Verdict

Worth a cheap shared board after checkout is screenshotted. Not worth swapping out Promptwatch on a content retainer. Otterly.AI and Peec AI stay off our default stack. Profound Starter is not Profound Enterprise.

FAQ

Do you rank ZeroRank above Promptwatch?

No. We run Promptwatch.

Is unlimited seats enough reason to switch?

No. Seat math can favor ZeroRank. The retainer still needs logs, citations, conversions, and publishing.

Which engine list do you quote?

Checkout. We leave the conflict visible.
