What AI visibility tool works for multi-language or multi-country tracking? Our setup
How we track AI visibility across languages and countries for clients: native prompts, country and city targeting, heatmaps, and the limits of any single tool.
International clients are where AI visibility tracking gets interesting, and where a lot of setups quietly fail. A brand can be well represented in English answers and absent in German ones. It can lead in the UK and trail in the US with the same content. If your tool checks one market, you will not see any of it.
This is how we set up multi-language and multi-country tracking, what we run it on, and the mistakes we have learned to avoid.
The common mistake: translating an English prompt list
The first instinct is to take the English prompt set and run it through translation. We avoid that, for a plain reason. People in different markets phrase the same need differently, and use different brand names, local competitors and local review sites. A literal translation of "best CRM for small businesses" is rarely how a buyer in another country asks the question.
Our process instead:
- Agree the priority markets, usually three to five, not twenty.
- Have a native speaker or an in-market editor write the prompts from how customers actually ask, using sales and support transcripts where we have them.
- Add local competitors and local source types to each market's set.
- Tag every prompt by country and language, plus topic and intent, so we can compare markets on the same axes.
What the tool has to do
We check three things. The tool should run prompts as if asked from a given country, handle the language of the prompt, and let us group and compare results across markets. We also check whether markets cost extra: separate projects, extra prompts or extra credits.
We also want sub-country control for local businesses. Cities and regions can produce different answers, especially in Google's AI surfaces.
What we run client programs on
We run client work on Promptwatch. For international programs these are the features we use.
Prompt panels per model, country and language. Monitors run daily per model, country and language. That is how the tool is built, so adding a market does not mean a separate workaround.
Country-level tracking on every paid plan. Essential at $95 a month includes it. State and city tracking start on Business ($579) and are on every agency plan.
Local GEO/SEO targeting. Added in October 2026, it pins a monitor to exact coordinates, with a radius from 20 meters to 5 kilometers. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode answer as if asked from that spot, and other models fall back to country, state or city. It is on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise.
Competitor and performance heatmaps. A heatmap compares any two dimensions. We use brands by countries to show a client where they lead and where a competitor owns the answer. That view usually starts the budget conversation about which market to invest in.
Reporting. Dashboards can be shared as PDFs, scheduled reports and exports. For clients with regional teams, we create custom dashboards per region and a global one on top.
Crawler logs for localized pages. Agent Analytics shows whether AI bots reach the localized versions of a site. Localized sites often have hreflang, redirect and geo-routing setups that can block crawlers by accident. IP-verified logs show what bots actually fetch and where they hit errors. Crawler logs start on Professional ($245 a month) and are on every agency plan.
Localized publishing. Content can be published to WordPress, Webflow (including localized collections) and Framer. When the gap in a market is a missing localized page, that shortens the path to a fix. The automated Content Agent is a Business feature.
Plan choices for international work
- Essential ($95): country-level tracking, 50 prompts. Fine for two or three markets with a small set of prompts, no crawler logs.
- Professional ($245): 150 prompts and crawler logs. A common start for a mid-sized brand in a handful of markets.
- Business ($579): 350 prompts, city tracking and coordinate targeting. For regional brands.
- Agency plans ($199, $399, $799): unlimited projects and prompts, which is how we structure multi-country work for several clients at once.
Annual billing is 12 months for the price of 10. A 7-day trial applies on monthly billing for most plans.
Other tools clients ask about
We get questions about alternatives. We keep to what vendors publish. Some tools offer country coverage only at their enterprise level, or limit entry plans to one market. Local SEO tools handle location well but are built around single locations. Several trackers do not clearly document country and language handling. If you are comparing tools, ask each vendor how many countries and languages are in the plan you would buy, whether they cost extra, and whether results come from the real interface or an API sample.
How we read the results
A few habits make multi-market data useful:
- Compare each market to its own baseline, not to the English market. Local answers can legitimately differ.
- Look at sources by market. The review sites and forums cited in Germany are not the ones cited in the US. That tells us where to build presence.
- Check the crawler logs for each language version before blaming content.
- Watch for competitors that exist only locally. They do not appear in a global competitor list and can own a market.
No tool can guarantee that an engine recommends you in any market. What it can do is show you where you stand in each one and what to fix first. Start with your top markets, get those right, and expand from there.
