Brandlight vs Profound vs Peec AI vs Promptwatch: A Practitioner's View

Four AI visibility tools from the point of view of an agency that runs client programs. What each is good at and why we use Promptwatch.

We get asked to compare these four more than any other set. The short answer is that they are not interchangeable, and which one is right depends on whether you are buying a report, a compliance package or a working process.

Promptwatch: the platform we run client programs on

Promptwatch is the one we use day to day. It tracks prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral and Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. The parts that change how we work are the layers below the mention count. Agent Analytics shows real AI crawler activity and the crawl-to-citation path. Citation analytics go down to page, Reddit and YouTube level. Visitor analytics tie AI-referred traffic to conversions. Content Agents plan, write and publish to Webflow or Framer behind a review inbox.

Explore is free. Essential is $95 a month with a 7-day trial, Professional is $245, Business is $579, and agency plans are Kick-off $199, Growth $399 and Scale $799 with unlimited projects and prompts.

Brandlight

Brandlight is the enterprise governance choice: SOC 2 Type II, SSO, role-based access, a multi-region command center and a strategist. It raised about $36M and names Kimberly-Clark, LG, The Hartford and Estée Lauder. There is no public price, the pricing page has returned a 404, and onboarding takes 30 to 90 days. Reviewers say it tells you what is wrong without fixing it. If a client's security team insists on its package, we tell them it fits and set expectations about the wait.

Profound

Profound has the widest engine coverage on its Enterprise plan and a Prompt Volumes dataset of real query demand. G2 shows 4.6. It is sold mainly as marketing agents for AEO, content, demand and PR, and Enterprise starts around $40k a year. Its $99 Starter plan is yearly billing and ChatGPT only, and Growth at $399 a month covers three engines. It suits a team ready to buy a full agent program and to spend one to three months on setup.

Peec AI

Peec AI is the tracker people enjoy using. Screenshot evidence, unlimited seats, daily data and a 4.9 on G2. From $95 a month, with the caveat that each tier includes only three models and extras run $35 to $165 a month each. No backfill, no crawler logs, no attribution, no publishing. We mention it last because it does one job well and stops.

How we choose for a client

Three questions settle most of it. First, does procurement require governance features? If yes, Brandlight or Profound Enterprise. Second, does the client have a content and analytics team to act on findings? If not, avoid tools that stop at the report. Third, does the client need to show that AI traffic converts? That needs attribution, which only one of these four documents.

For the clients who answer "we need to get cited and prove it," the answer is almost always the same platform. The reasons are the crawler logs and the publishing loop, not the prompt tracker. Every serious product has a prompt tracker.
